royrocketstar.net/streetfound.html

Publication by Roy Payamal
Salty Xi Jie Ng - editing, design, producing/directing launch
18 July 2021, final night of The (original) Substation, Singapore

Publication
Street Found is a 60-page collection of Roy’s philosophical outsider poetry, drawings, and pareidolic studies consisting iPhone photos of shapes found in street corners. He contemplates everyday life, busking and art: from Ah Bengs and Ang Mo Kio St 12 laksa to his busking trishaw and a baby’s inner life in the womb.

Launch
What is the spirit of that which lives on the streets? On The (original) Substation Theatre’s last night of operations on 18 July 2021, we hosted a cosy celebration of Roy Payamal. Roy’s artistic history is intertwined with The Substation’s. One of Singapore’s first street performers, he started Singapore’s first juggling club at The Substation Garden.

Featuring:
- Readings from STREET FOUND by Balakrishnan Matchap, Geraldine Schubert, Vivien Goh, Kai Lam, Sasha Lim, Kai Emmanuel Kuah, Marla Bendini, Amanda Lee Koe, Kirsten Tan, Shaiful Risan and

- SHEARS performance by Roy Payamal feat. musician Cruise Chen
- Screening of Busking Tree by Zai Kuning (chronicling Roy's life during early days of pandemic lockdown) and Kite Light, White Tide, Hide by Salty Xi Jie Ng (feat. Roy's poem of the same name)
