How to play by the creek
I never played by a creek as a child, mostly because I come from a congested metropolis where nature is largely curated. I do know that creeks are magical sites. They are secret corners, housing thriving ecosystems, providing a place of rest and contemplation. I wish I had a creek as a child.
Creek College is an experimental school that bridges art, education and conservation. This workshop began with a sharing of the history and wildlife of Johnson Creek. Participants were then invited to share personal stories of nature, invent a creek persona, make a costume using scrap materials and create a performative ritual at a chosen spot.
