Pickled 菜心相印

4 min, 2017
Ampang, Malaysia
At the 6th No Borders Project

Two shoppers at a minimart eyeing the last can of 菜心 (nostalgic pickled lettuce typically enjoyed by older Chinese) extoll the Chinese value of 礼尚往来 (reciprocal courtesy). This pedestrian-movement film by two half-Hokkiens also explores what it means to be Hokkien and was filmed in Ng Choong Yeam Sdn Bhd.
